2027 Alaska Bear & Wildlife Tour Dates

Note #1:

Tour dates may change, but if they do, they are rarely shifted more than a day or two on either end  For this reason, we ask you to plan your Alaska arrival at least one full day — and preferably two — before the tour begins. This not only gives you time to relax here, but also gives breathing space for possible weather delays on either end of the tour.

Notify us if you’re interested in a tour but can’t arrive by the listed start date or time. We may be able to accommodate you.

In 2027 we’ve added MORE BEAR TIME (hours/day and/or extra days) at prime hotpots in Lake Clark and Katmai Nat’l Parks!

Note #3 (Important!):

If you are comparing whether to “go solo” and plan your own adventure: 

Not all flight operators and lodges are the same. Some employ new summer pilots or “tour guides” that take you to crowded spots with limited to no bear activity. Anybody can say they are a tour guide, but being in Alaska doesn’t mean you  really know the animals or group dynamics or how to deal with all the issues and options that may arise when weather or other hiccups occur.

Flight prices may be slightly cheaper with some charters for the unsuspecting visitor. But you often “get what you pay for”. They might take you to crowded spots with fisherman, day tours and/or non-photographers (especially with flights from Anchorage) who are not interested in more than maybe an hour with bears. 

Many times you get very limited “face-time” with very limited numbers of bears (sometimes the few you might see are sleeping the entire short time you are there) and/or lousy weather.  Flights from Anchorage often go to more crowded spots (e.g with fishermen as well who aren’t there for the bears) closer to the city. You might get much less time with the 1 or 2 bears, who are often sleeping the whole time, than you would get with us. The better spots are much farther south and inland.

Note #1: For all tour dates, Unless booking a private tour (see below), all tours depend on a minimum of 3 participants (total group size, can be from different parties). Itineraries are subject to change(s) due to weather, road conditions, wildlife movement, air charter or lodging conditions. We are very good at having alternate options available and rearranging scheduled activities within existing tour dates, and we leave breathing space in the schedule to seamlessly accommodate changes.  We encourage you to do the same with your airline and travel dates.

Note #2:  Bear sites and activity are the pivot points that each tour is designed around, depending on best opportunities, weather, flight/lodging availability, and pilot discretion. We deal with several long-term pilots and lodge operators and adjust the daily/weekly/schedule around these variables.

Note #3: 1 & 2-Day  tours:  These are not formally scheduled but are fit in between the longer advertised tours whenever possible. This allows more openings for short-notice bookings. Prices start at $279/pp (min 2) and are road trips only for the basic tour. There are plenty of add-on activities available (helicopter flightseeing, dogsledding, fly-out to bears, etc.). Note #4: We can arrange private tours for as little as 2 people. This is a good choice if our scheduled tours are full or you can’t fit your dates here into our slots. Tell us what you ideally would like to do and when. Land wildlife tour? Flightseeing/aerial photos? Max days with bears? 5-star suites? With enough notice, we can customize a tour to whatever you want,
